Dr. Stern is Associate Professor of Neurology at Boston University School of Medicine, where he is also Co- Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical and Research Program and Associate Director of the Clinical Core of the BU Alzheimer’s Disease Center, one of 30 centers funded by the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Stern has published on various aspects of neuropsychological assessment and is the senior author of several neuropsychological tests and instruments, including the Neuropsychological Assessment Battery (NAB), a comprehensive battery of 33 new tests, the development of which was funded, in part, by the National Institutes of Health. His primary areas of funded research include cognitive and emotional aspects of dementia, thyroid-brain relationships, and driving and dementia. Dr. Stern has received several NIH and other national and local grants, has published over 200 journal articles, chapters, and abstracts, and is a Fellow of both the American Neuropsychiatric Association and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He is a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and is on the Medical Advisory Boards of Sports Legacy Institute and the National Graves’ Disease Foundation. Dr. Stern has served on several national grant review committees, is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, and is on the Editorial Board of Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology. Dr. Stern is also a clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in the diagnosis and evaluation of memory disorders. His practice is in the South End at BU School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. |
