The BayView, following a $3 million renovation, reopened in early 2010 as a state-of-the-art Memory Support Assisted Living featuring 39 apartments and two separate living areas for those with varying levels of memory loss.

Our interior community rooms are decorated in warm golds, reds and blues with comfortable furnishings, built-ins and beautiful recessed lighting. Our lovely exterior spaces and grounds include a wide front porch where residents enjoy views of Carson Beach, Dorchester Bay and the JFK Presidential Library. Residents also enjoy spending time in our enclosed patio areas which feature umbrella tables, a gazebo and raised beds for planting.

Our Memory Support Neighborhood offers a gentle and secure environment for individuals with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. Residents’ needs are addressed with compassion by staff professionally trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

Our goals are to enhance residents’ existing strengths and skills and to minimize limitations through “failure-free” therapeutic activities and services. Daily activities are based on the concept of creating pleasant days. Each resident’s Wellness Care Plan is developed in cooperation with family and reflects the resident’s interests, hobbies and professional skills before the onset of the impairment. This approach, with strong family involvement, helps residents maintain their individuality, independence and dignity.

A Family Partnership

Our innovative programming, expert compassionate staff and homelike environment offer individuals with memory loss the best quality of life and their family’s peace of mind. We recognize that the effects of Alzheimer’s disease are far-reaching. We encourage family involvement in developing their loved one’s Wellness Care Plan and we provide ongoing services to family members including regular conferences, support group meetings, educational programs and a resource library.

Residents plan their day to the fullest by selecting from a wide array of activities and enjoying entertaining and educational events. Our Social Program, developed with resident input, offers many opportunities for residents to spend time with each other, pursue individual interests, and host their families and friends at our special gatherings.

A variety of programs address all of the needs that every person has -- social, physical, spiritual and intellectual. Our activities are not developed to keep people busy - they are designed to nurture and inspire. How residents decide to spend their days is always a personal individual choice, respected by our staff.

The BayView is a monthly rental community offering state-of-the-art Memory Support Assisted Living with a range of accommodations and service packages. Specific monthly rates depend upon the size and location of the apartment, as well as service options chosen by the resident. Please call for information about our monthly rates at 617-268-5450.

Respites and Short-Term Stays

Our Respite Program is helpful after a hospitalization when Mom or Dad isn't ready to be home alone but doesn't need the institutionalized care provided in a rehabilitation hospital or nursing home. Seniors stay at The BayView while receiving followup therapeutic services after a hospital discharge; they benefit from being in a supportive yet homelike environment with 24-hour staff, nutritious meals and reminders to take their medications as prescribed. Individuals with confusion or slight memory loss especially benefit from our supportive environment. A Respite is also a good option for seniors whose primary family caretakers are away on vacation or business. Some residents choose a Short-Term rental to initally "try out" our community to make sure it's the right choice for their new home. Individuals staying with us short-term have access to all of our services and amenities.

From Route 93 North or South

(If you are coming from Points West, take the Mass Pike West into Boston and get onto Route 93 South.) Take Exit 15 "Columbia Road, Edward Everett Square." If coming from the north: take a left at the bottom of exit ramp. If coming from the south: take a right at the bottom of the exit ramp. At the rotary, go half way around and continue straight onto Day Boulevard.

Follow signs for South Boston, Castle Island, and Day Boulevard. (Ahead on your right will be state police headquarters and Carson Beach.) At the third traffic light, take a LEFT (sign indicates left hand turn prohibited but only during 6AM - 9 AM.) Take an immediate LEFT onto Columbia Road. Continue straight for several blocks and through one traffic light.

The BayView is located just after the traffic light at G Street on the right. You may park on either side of the street.
