| Mary Baum Director of the Memory Support Neighborhood | Implemented in 30-45 minute increments throughout the day and into the evening, stimulating activities make a world of difference for those with cognitive impairments and can have positive effects associated with behavioral, emotional, physical and cognitive well-being. Our varied Activities Program, based on a “Habilitation Therapy” model, promotes individual interests and hobbies through “success-oriented” activities, seven days a week. Our program is based on research which shows that keeping active helps alleviate the stress associated with memory loss, while comfortable daily routines help reduce confusion and anxiety. Additionally, for many people, staying engaged in meaningful and pleasurable activities actually slows the progression of dementia. |
