Implemented in 30-45 minute increments throughout the day and into the evening, stimulating activities make a world of difference for those with cognitive impairments and can have positive effects associated with behavioral, emotional, physical and cognitive well-being.

Our varied Activities Program, based on a “Habilitation Therapy” model, promotes individual interests and hobbies through “success-oriented” activities, seven days a week.

Our program is based on research which shows that keeping active helps alleviate the stress associated with memory loss, while comfortable daily routines help reduce confusion and anxiety.

Daily Activities

Activities are presented in a manner that caters to the “reality” of residents with memory loss. Activities, such as art therapy, are broken down into sequential steps and modified for each individual’s highest level of functional independence.

  • Daily exercise classes with music
  • Social events, including reminiscence groups, birthday parties, holiday celebrations, musical events and entertainment
  • Activities to stimulate cognitive function, such as word games, trivia, cooking, working on puzzles and professionally-based tasks
  • Art therapy to increase positive emotions and improve self-esteem
  • Massage, aromatherapy and manicures to improve physical and psychological well-being
  • Routine domestic chores, such as folding laundry, setting dining room tables and gardening to enhance feelings of purpose and accomplishment
  • Daily quiet time after lunch to promote rest
  • Leisurely bathing and dressing with the aid of a trained certified nursing assistant to reduce stress
  • Regularly scheduled small group outings such as picnics, dining in local restaurants and cultural events
