We carefully designed our Memory Support Neighborhood in keeping with the latest research on memory loss. Our use of contrasting colors allows residents to navigate their home with enhanced perception of their surroundings. Memory boxes at each apartment entryway, filled with family photos and familiar memorabilia, enhance residents’ orientation and feelings of belonging. Camouflaged exit doors, unobtrusive security systems, and close attention by staff allow residents to move about freely, enhancing feelings of autonomy.

In order to reduce confusion, our Memory Support Neighborhood is kept free of clutter and obtrusive noises. We have wide interior wandering paths – called “Memory Walkways.” Sunlight streaming through windows, coupled with appropriately bright levels of interior lighting, help reduce anxiety and enhance feelings of well-being. The latest research suggests that such lighting also reduces sun-downing behaviors.
Our Memory Support Neighborhood also features a secure outdoor area. Most residents enjoy connecting with the natural world and feel a profound sense of peace and familiarity relaxing with friends while birds chirp, gardens bloom, and clouds drift overhead against a blue sky.
