April 1, 2011, Hopkinton, MA – Ms Caroline Bloy was honored recently with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” presented to her at Compass at Hopkinton Assisted Living, a new memory support assisted living community at 50 West Main Street in Hopkinton. Family members participated in the award ceremony that highlighted Caroline’s life story and personal achievements.
Compass Executive Director Tadd Clelland explained the Lifetime Achievement Award saying “The award celebrates Caroline’s rich life history and lifelong accomplishments. Too many seniors in our society become isolated and anonymous even to their own neighbors, but at Compass at Hopkinton we enjoy learning about life stories from residents and their families, and spreading the word about our great residents. Families beam with pride as their loved one is publicly credited for all they have done through the years as individuals, parents, spouses and career men and women.”
Caroline was born in New York City and grew up both in the city and in Bedford, New York. She attended the Rippowan and Chapin Schools. Later, she graduated from the Bouve School, now part of Tufts University.
Always very independent, Caroline worked her entire adult life. Her talent and love of sports propelled her to teach physical education at Wellesley College, Simmons College and Pine Manor College. Later she worked for Sweet Briar College in their admissions department. Her drive to learn new knowledge and take on challenges also led her into real estate and she worked as a real estate broker in Newton for many years.
Caroline’s devotion to her community is notable. For much of her adult life she was active with the Grace Episcopal Church in Newton, where her husband was the Episcopalian minister. She co-founded the West Newton Food Cooperative, running it out of her basement for many years. Always a participating citizen, Caroline was committed to developing and nurturing the communities in which she lived.
Caroline has lived at Compass at Hopkinton since last September, and has become an active and integral part of the program, participating in most activities and sharing her passions with the diverse group of residents. Her family is very appreciative of the quality of care Caroline is receiving. Caroline’s son Michael Bloy, of Southborough, expressed his gratitude,“We would like to thank you for your professional and personal care that has been given to our mother these past few months. We appreciate so very much the work you all do."
