 | Erin Whalen, SLR Alzheimer’s Care Specialist
Erin Whalen has worked in the field of Alzheimer’s care for over ten years. Her expertise is informed by her experiences as both a personal and professional caregiver. Her professional achievements include developing activity programming in long-term care and assisted living, contributing to Alzheimer’s research programs, providing individual care consultation for caregivers and patients, and conducting public education and marketing campaigns.
Most recently she worked for the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center in Boston, MA managing a comprehensive outreach program to recruit study participants for multiple research programs conducting cutting edge research into the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Whalen also worked for the Massachusetts Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in Watertown, MA where she developed professional curriculum and presented training programs and seminars to healthcare professionals, family caregivers and patients and managed the 24-hour telephone Helpline. Her senior housing and long-term care experience includes social programming for residents of the former Burrage House Assisted Living in Boston, MA and the Fairlawn Nursing Home in Lexington, MA. Ms. Whalen joined Senior Living Residences in 2008 as Alzheimer’s Care Specialist. She oversees the implementation of Alzheimer’s treatment programs in SLR’s Memory Support Neighborhoods and is responsible for building awareness of SLR’s Alzheimer care programs among eldercare professionals and the general public.
Ms. Whalen has a BA from Providence College in Providence, RI. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association (Mass-ALFA).
