Cambridge (June 27, 2011) – Neville Place Assisted Living, located at Fresh Pond, raised close to $1,000 for Alzheimer’s research at it popular annual Luau event last week with donations still coming in. The monies raised will be presented to the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BUADC) for research, education and support for individuals and their families dealing with Alzheimer’s.
Jamie McWilliam, Executive Director of Neville Place said, “Neville Place’s commitment to innovative treatment and care for people with Alzheimer’s disease extends beyond our own assisted living community. We are continuously looking for ways to promote research towards better treatment and ultimately a cure for this disease. Our support for the good work that the BU Alzheimer’s Disease Center is doing is part of that commitment.”

The BUADC is one of 30 centers funded by the National Institute on Aging to make research advances that will improve the care and treatment for people with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as seek ways to prevent the disease process, and to find an eventual cure.
Neville Place offers local seniors service-enriched Assisted Living and a state-of-the-art Compass Memory Support Neighborhood featuring innovative, research-based programming for those with memory loss. The community is managed by Senior Living Residences, a Boston-based company with a reputation as a leader in providing Alzheimer’s care to Massachusetts seniors in its Compass Memory Support Neighborhoods.

McWilliam said, “Senior Living Residence’s forward-looking approach to developing treatment programs for Alzheimer’s care led us to a formal affiliation with the BUADC. This unique affiliation brings state-of-the-art treatments for the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease from the clinical research setting to Neville Place’s Compass Memory Support Neighborhood, as well as in our sister assisted living communities in Boston, Concord, Hopkinton and Methuen.”
