A Short-Term Stay - Providing Solutions for a Family’s Caregiving Needs

At Senior Living Residences we offer Short-Term Stays in our Independent & Assisted Living communities, as well as in our Compass Memory Support Neighborhoods. A Short-Term Stay provides all the benefits of residency without a long-term commitment - companionship, security, meals and personal care for your loved one - and peace of mind for you!

• Our Respite Program helps a loved one transition after a hospitalization. Often hospital reimbursement constraints dictate when seniors are discharged - even when families and professionals feel they would benefit from further assistance and a secure environment with 24-hour awake staff. Seniors with increased disorientation and confusion as a result of a hospital stay need even more support before returning home alone.
• Occasionally an adult daughter or son with caregiving responsibilities needs a rest or has plans to travel for vacation or business.
• Short-term respites are especially helpful for families who are caring for a loved one with memory loss— just a short break from the everyday stresses of caregiving can make a world of difference and help the caregiver recharge.
• Some individuals and their families simply want to determine if a Senior Living Residences' community is the right fit for them before making a commitment to moving. They like the "no strings attached" option of trying out this new senior living option.
  
  

Compass Memory Support Respite Care

A Short-Term Stay in one of our Compass Memory Support Neighborhoods provides a calm, caring and secure environment and immersion in our innovative programming which actually treats the symptoms of memory loss. Individuals with memory loss staying with us short-term benefit from our adult learning curriculum, enrichment activities, medication management, and Memory Preservation Nutrition Program. We offer a uniquely high staff-to-resident ratio to meet each resident's scheduled and unscheduled personal care needs 24 hours a day.

Most importantly, our Respite Program helps a loved one transition after a hospital or rehab stay. This is especially helpful for seniors with some memory loss and confusion which often gets worse following an extended stay in an institutional hospital or long-term care setting. A Compass Memory Support Neighborhood is the perfect next step to receive that needed extra care before returning home to live independently. We offer a holistic approach to sub-acute rehabilitation - personal care, rehabilitation, a brain-healthy diet, and socialization are all right here, without the look and feel of a medical setting. Our Resident Care Director meets with each Respite Stay resident and his or her family to discuss personal needs and preferences, and develops a customized short-term Wellness Care Plan. Part of this plan may include physical, occupational, or speech rehab services provided by local VNA services in the resident’s private apartment at his or her convenience.

All of our Compass communities offer Short-Term Stays and the Holistic Respite Program, starting at only a two-week stay.

Assisted Living Short-Term Stays

A Short-Term Stay provides you with all the benefits of residency, including access to all of the amenities, community areas, and personal care and wellness services, in a secure and caring environment without a long-term commitment. Included in the fee is a furnished apartment with 24-hour emergency response, three healthy nutritous meals daily, medication reminders and daily personal care assistance (if needed), weekly housekeeping and linen laundering services, and participation in any scheduled social, cultural and wellness activities. To ensure that we offer the highest quality service during your stay with us, our Resident Care Director meets with each Short-Term Stay resident and his or her family to discuss personal needs and preferences and develops a customized short-term Wellness Care Plan.

Most Senior Living Residences' communities (with the exception of JFK Apartments in Cambridge and Cape Cod Senior Residences in Bourne) offer Short-Term Assisted Living Stays.
