The BayView Opens State-of-the-Art Memory Support Neighborhood

The BayView Assisted Living Residence has opened a specially designed secure Memory Support Neighborhood for individuals with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. The BayView, located in South Boston, has been serving the Boston area and the South Shore for 15 years. Tadd Clelland, Executive Director of The BayView said, “Our new Memory Support Neighborhood provides state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s treatment programs in a caring supportive environment. Our enrichment activity programming, special attention to diet, carefully designed environment and staff training in Alzheimer’s care reflects the latest thinking in the treatment and care of those with memory loss.” Jennifer Hoadley, Program Director of the Memory Support Neighborhood, has extensive experience managing memory care programs in assisted living communities. At The BayView she develops enrichment activity programming for the residents, supervises and trains personal caregivers, and leads family caregiver support group meetings. Ms. Hoadley said her dedicated compassionate staff develops strong bonds with residents and their families helping to ease the transition into life at The BayView. She noted, “Our goal is to help residents maintain their independence and dignity, while offering the safety, security and support that they need. All of our supportive services are personalized for individual needs and available 24 hours a day.” The secure environment of The BayView’s Memory Support Neighborhood has been carefully designed with the needs of those with memory loss in mind. Details such as memory boxes, bright lighting and contrasting colors help those with memory loss navigate their world with confidence. Residents enjoy private or shared apartments, a lovely country kitchen and a private secure courtyard with a gazebo, umbrella tables and a walking path. Mary Ellen Quigley, whose mother lives at The BayView, said she highly recommends the new Memory Support Neighborhood. “Mom was one of the first to move into the Memory Support Neighborhood and she is flourishing. She keeps active with the great social programs and loves the good-weather walks along the beach and the great food. We all sleep better at night knowing Mom is in a safe and secure environment 24/7.
