SLR Receives Alzheimer’s Award

Senior Living Residences Wins Alzheimer’s Award From Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center

Boston, MA – Senior Living Residences (SLR) recently received a Recognition Award from the Boston University School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center (BU ADC) for the company’s contribution to Alzheimer’s disease research, community outreach, and support of the research and education initiatives of the BU ADC.

Dr. Robert Stern, Associate Professor of Neurology and Co-Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical and Research Program at BU ADC, presented the award, saying that he viewed SLR “as one of the most innovative and expert senior living and Alzheimer’s care organizations in the country.”

As the premier provider of Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s disease care in New England, SLR stands at the forefront in providing the most state-of-the-art care available because of its affiliations with such nationally recognized academic organizations as BU ADC, which are leaders in the field of senior-related care, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, through their research and innovation.

“SLR is honored to accept the BU ADC Recognition Award,” said Tadd Clelland, Principal and Executive Vice President of SLR. “We are proud to be implementing specialized care programming that is directly related to new research discoveries in a continued effort to provide cutting edge treatment for the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. This award recognizes our ongoing commitment to provide SLR residents with innovative programming, which greatly improves each person’s quality of life. ”

SLR also believes care extends beyond its doors. As the BU ADC recognized, SLR provides the communities it serves with the resources to be informed about new research initiatives, opportunities and breakthroughs. SLR is involved in many different community education and outreach projects. Most recently SLR developed an Alzheimer’s blog for caregivers (www.alzcareblog.com) and provided screenings of the HBO documentary, The Alzheimer’s Project, for the general public.

BU ADC is one of 31 federally funded Alzheimer’s Disease Centers nationwide with the goal of reducing the human and economic cost of Alzheimer’s through research, clinical care and education.
