The Cambridge Homes Gives Back with ‘Blessing Bags’

On December 21st, nearly 500 bags filled with holiday gifts were delivered to five area Hildebrand Family Self Help Center shelters by associates at The Cambridge Homes Independent & Assisted Living community. This “Blessing Bags” initiative was launched six years ago by Teresa Burns, Director of Community Relations at The Cambridge Homes, and has helped hundreds of less fortunate families in Boston, Lowell and Cambridge.

Proceeds will benefit individuals and families in need through the Hildebrand Family Self-Help Center, an organization that supports and houses more than 200 homeless families. Each recipient will get a bag filled with invaluable items like personal care products, non-perishable snacks, and either a $5 Dunkin’ Donuts or McDonalds gift card. Additional bags were filled and donated to the Veterans Association and will be distributed to local veterans facing homelessness.

“The holidays aren’t just a time to give gifts to your loved ones, they are an opportunity to give back to people in your community,” says Teresa Burns. “Not everyone will have gifts to open over the holidays, but Blessing Bags allow us to reach some of those less fortunate.”
