Ridgefield Station Resident Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Naomi Stern, a resident at the all-new Ridgefield Station, received the senior living community’s first Lifetime Achievement Award. The award ceremony highlighted Naomi’s life story, and her many personal and professional achievements.

Naomi was born in 1921 in NYC and attended Hunter College. In 1941, the College President selected Naomi to attend a leadership institute on Campobello Island, Canada, at the Roosevelts’ family home. There, she began a friendship with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt that would have a tremendous lifelong impact on her. Naomi has an impressive personal and professional history, having spent two nights at the White House, dined seated next to Churchill, and lobbied lawmakers, including Harry Truman, for student financial aid. She also went on to a 28 year career at Revlon and became VP of Retail Services.

Naomi is most proud of her family, including daughter Barbara, son-in-law Morgan and  grandson David, along with other family and friends located in the U.S. and Israel.

Joseph Simone, Ridgefield Station’s Executive Director, explains the Lifetime Achievement Award, saying “The award celebrates Naomi’s rich life history and lifelong accomplishments. Too many seniors in our society become isolated and anonymous even to their own neighbors, but at Ridgefield Station we enjoy learning about life stories from residents and their families, and spreading the word about our great residents. Families beam with pride as their loved one is publicly credited for all they have done through the years as individuals, parents, spouses and career men and women.”
