Betty Whitaker, Lifetime Achievement Award
Resident Betty Whitaker celebrates at her Fenway-themed ceremony

Brookmeadow at Cobb Corner Assisted Living had a terrific time celebrating South Boston native Betty Whitaker during our Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony. The event was a fun-filled Fenway Park themed celebration complete with Fenway Franks, cheeseburger sliders, french fries and onion rings for all to enjoy.

Betty had a variety of jobs throughout her career, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Nursing Home as well as a secretary for a wine distribution company. She took pride in her work ethic and the difference she made for the different populations she served. She met her husband, Edgar, on Lansdowne Street, and the couple raised their children– Betty, Susan, John, and Jeanne– in Southie. She is a cherished mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, always bringing a sense of humor and positivity wherever she goes. At Brookmeadow, she greets everyone with a warm smile and ‘hello!’

At the Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony, Betty’s family and friends gathered to reminisce about her dedicated motherhood, how she serves as an inspirational role model to her family, her career and her strong faith.

Everyone danced and sang to Steve King’s versions of “Sweet Caroline” and “Southie is my Home,” which Betty led the crowd in. It was a beautiful celebration of all she has accomplished as a proud Southie native, professional, mother, and grandmother.
