CANTON, MA— On Thursday, June 5th, Cornerstone at Canton Assisted Living commemorated their 10th Anniversary with a special Garden Party. Residents, families, associates, local eldercare professionals and dignitaries gathered in the sun-filled Piano Lounge for an evening of live entertainment by Mike and the Dynamics, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and heartfelt speeches.

Cornerstone at Canton opened its doors in 2015 and is situated on Revere Street, a nod to Paul Revere’s historic roots in Canton. Throughout the past decade, the community has become part of the fabric of the town, forming partnerships with St. John’s School, the Canton, Westwood, Sharon and Norwood Councils on Aging, local businesses and more.

Noteworthy attendees included Richard Staiti, Norfolk County Commissioner and Tadd Clelland, President & CEO of Senior Living Residences (SLR), Cornerstone’s management company. The community’s Executive Director, Rebecca Scalzo, kicked off the speaking program and invited the dignitaries onto the stage to share a few words.

“Cornerstone at Canton’s success would not have been possible if all of you, our friends, partners and stakeholders, hadn’t put your trust in us and shared our vision,” shared Tadd Clelland in his remarks. “Our seniors deserve an environment where their physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met, where the focus is on maintaining their independence, and where they are seen and celebrated for who they are.”

Morine Simmonds, Wellness Coordinator at Cornerstone at Canton, shares heartfelt remarks

Morine Simmonds, Cornerstone’s Wellness Coordinator, is one of a few associates who have been working at the community since its opening. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than at Cornerstone at Canton,” she expressed in her speech. “We foster a culture of trust, respect, and genuine care– not just for each  other, but for the families who place their loved ones in our care. We are truly a home away from home.”

During the final speech of the night, Rebecca Scalzo also shared a glowing tribute to the legacies of Cornerstone’s past and present residents. “Since opening, Cornerstone has been home to hundreds, maybe over a thousand people, some for a matter of days, and others for years,” she remarked. “No matter how long they stay, each resident leaves a lasting impact. So, to all the Cornerstone residents of past and present who have given us the gift of knowing you, we thank you. Our community is better because you were here.”
