Cornerstone at Canton Resident Celebrates 101st Birthday

CANTON, MA – For Elenore “Ellie” Steinberg, March 15th was a very special day. After having to cancel her 100th birthday plans last year before moving to Cornerstone at Canton, being able to celebrate her 101st birthday felt extra sweet, and the team at Cornerstone pulled out all the stops for this milestone.

To transform their piano lounge for the occasion, staff brought in a grand balloon arch, bouquets of fresh flowers, and set up displays with Ellie’s family photos and a Lifetime Achievement Award certificate. While some of her friends from Cornerstone gathered for the event, Ellie also received a very special visit from her son Frank and his wife Caren, who toasted to her milestone birthday. She was also overjoyed and surprised by her daughter Cindy and other family members from out of state who all joined the party virtually via Zoom.

To recognize Ellie’s big day, the Assisted Living and Compass Memory Support community awarded her their coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors and highlights a resident’s many accomplishments and achievements throughout their life and celebrates their personal journey.

Born in Somerville, some of Ellie’s most treasured memories include her marriage to her husband Bob, raising their two children, traveling, and spending time with friends. One of her greatest passions in life has always been dancing, and when music started playing during her celebration, Ellie was the first to get up and dance.

“Ellie is such a fun, kind person, and we are so happy to have her as part of our Cornerstone family” said Cornerstone at Canton Executive Director Mike Schaus. “We wanted to just take today to honor her accomplishments and also make sure her birthday was as special as it could be.”
