FARMINGTON, CT– Farmington Station enjoys a reputation as a welcoming and inclusive community, which is all the more significant to celebrate during Pride Month. Each year, the assisted living and memory support community renews their promise to treat all residents with respect and dignity by completing SAGECare’s LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency training.

SAGE’s mission is to advocate for policies and resources that empower LGBTQ+ seniors to live open and authentic lives. Their training program teaches senior living providers and staff about empathy, growth and allyship strategies that will strengthen bonds and foster meaningful conversations within their communities. As the first and largest non-profit organization to focus on LGBTQ+ rights for seniors, SAGE has been successful in guiding senior living communities in the right direction.

Farmington Station is the only assisted living community in Farmington to earn this achievement, having first adopted the training program in 2022. The community aims to give all residents the best possible quality, and SAGECare’s training and recognition program helps them stay true to that promise — ensuring that all residents, regardless of their gender identity and sexual orientation, feel at home.
