STOUGHTON, MA – Brookmeadow at Cobb Corner, a senior living community that offers assisted living and a Compass Memory Support Neighborhood®, recently achieved the Purple Flag Accreditation for their commitment to excellence in memory care. Joined by Massachusetts State Representative Edward R. Philips and Christopher Carter, President of Purple Flag, Brookmeadow’s residents, associates and guests celebrated this milestone in a flag raising ceremony on October 1st.
Purple Flag is only awarded to senior care providers who meet 100 in-depth standards and practices. Purple Flag’s application process measures every aspect of a senior living community, including programming, dining, resident care, staff training, and family communication. Brookmeadow and Purple Flag are natural partners, united by the belief that there is a right way to care for people living with dementia and that every resident deserves the best possible quality of life.
For example, Brookmeadow understands that memory support isn’t one-size-fits-all. Their team of seasoned professionals makes it a priority to get to know residents on an individual level — their backgrounds, goals and preferences — so they can build a care plan that addresses those needs holistically. Purple Flag’s recognition program may encourage other providers to follow this approach.
“This is a big achievement and a lot of work goes into this,” Representative Philips shared when presenting the Brookmeadow team with an official citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives. The citation congratulated Brookmeadow “in recognition of them receiving the Purple Flag designation for exceptional service quality in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.”
Purple Flag’s Christopher Carter shared his deep admiration for Brookmeadow’s leadership and commitment to memory support, and shared that he believes the community sets a solid example for what efficient care should look like: “This event is a celebration of your leadership, passion, and dedication to providing the highest possible quality of life for residents. It is said that passion isn’t taught, but it is inspired. I am inspired by the leadership demonstrated here today.”
“When families begin their journey of selecting an assisted living or memory care community for their loved ones, they are ultimately placing their deepest trust in our hands,” Stephanie Sinclair, Brookmeadow’s Executive Director, shared at the event. “They look for meaningful signs that their loved ones will be safe, cherished, and respected. Receiving the Purple Flag accreditation is one of those powerful signs.”
Following the speeches, Brookmeadow raised their new Purple Flag, which now proudly waves in front of the community. Guests then moved inside to enjoy an extraordinary reception put together by Jackeline Soares, the community’s skilled Director of Dining Experience, featuring an array of purple treats and a professional harpist for entertainment.
Brookmeadow is now one of only 23 senior living communities in the state to become Purple Flag accredited.
