What is a “Non-Pharmacological Approach” to Memory Care?

At Brookmeadow, we believe the first line of treatment for cognitive impairment should be a non-pharmacological approach, which means we work to treat the symptoms of memory loss through unique programming, redirection and de-escalation techniques instead of relying on medication. Compass pulls from the latest research, best practices, and our own innovation and personally tailors a treatment plan to fit each resident’s needs and interests. Over time, this approach can potentially slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.

Real People Find Real Support at Brookmeadow

“The best thing about Brookemeadow is the staff. They go above and beyond to embrace not only their residents, but their residents’ family members. You will always see warm smiles and genuine hellos. That is what drew me to this community, and why I chose Brookmeadow for our father. The moment I walked in for the tour, I knew this was where he needed to be.”
