AYER, MA– On Thursday, June 11, Nashoba Park residents and guests enjoyed their 20th Anniversary Garden Party celebration at the Volunteers of America Massachusetts senior community. With cheerful singing and dancing, delicious o’dourves, and a top notch dessert room decorated from ceiling to floor, family and friends honored the two decades of loving support that makes Nashoba Park the community that it has become.
Nashoba Park opened its doors as an assisted living community in 2006, but its rich history dates back even further. Originally the Community Memorial Hospital, the building that now is full of fun-loving neighbors and friends has always valued providing meaningful care to all.
Many honorable guests joined in on the celebration, including Massachusetts State Senator James Eldridge, Charles Gagnon, President and CEO of Volunteers of America of Massachusetts, Robert Pontbriand, Ayer Town Manager, and Tadd Clelland, Senior Living Residences (SLR) President and CEO. Nashoba Park’s Executive Director, Julie Bagdonas, kicked off the celebration with her own opening remarks and invited the notable attendees up to share a few words about their experiences at the community.

“The support you get from the staff here is top notch. There are so many assisted living facilities in the district I represent, but this truly is the most special one, and I really mean that,” Senator Eldridge shared. “It’s just so wonderful to see so many friends and constituents here.”
Senior Living Residences, the management company of Nashoba Park’s day-to-day operations, has opened three assisted living communities across the state in partnership with Volunteers of America Massachusetts (VOAMASS). With Nashoba Park being among those communities, Clelland shared how meaningful SLR’s partnership with VOAMASS has been.
“Being able to work with Volunteers of America has been an absolute joy. Working with a group that understands what matters most is the people — and makes decisions about what’s right for the community so that everyone has the tools to do their job here — allows us to take care of our number one priority, giving residents the best possible quality of life,” Clelland shared in his speech.
In her closing remarks, Bagdonas shared that what truly has allowed Nashoba Park to thrive for 20 years is the consistent level of support from caregivers, family members, friends, and residents alike. “Thank you for placing your trust in us. Thank you for attending our events, participating in our fundraisers, sharing your stories, and celebrating milestones like this one alongside us,” she said. “Your support, engagement, and sense of community are what make Nashoba Park feel like home.”
