Former Flower Shop Owner Receives Special Lifetime Achievement Award

AYER, MA — Dottie Bambini recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Nashoba Park. The award ceremony recognized her personal and professional accomplishments.

In 1964, Bambini and her husband Mario purchased the Neponset Parkway Greenhouses in Hyde Park. The couple owned the busy flower shop for 18 years, regularly working seven days a week. To this day, Bambini still has a passion for flowers and can be found every Wednesday creating arrangements for the dining room at Nashoba Park and other spaces around the assisted living community. Her favorite flowers are roses and carnations.

To honor her history as an accomplished florist, Nashoba Park organized a special outing to Flowers by Stella in Ayer, where Bambini was able to explore the shop and even make her own arrangement.

“We were thrilled to be able to celebrate Dottie with a Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Kimberly Gagnon, executive director of Nashoba Park. “It’s important to us to fight the anonymity that can accompany aging by recognizing that each of our residents has an important story to share.”
