Nashoba Park Recognizes Their Senior Living Heroes

AYER, MA – They are some of the unsung heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic: the dedicated men and women who work in local senior living communities, helping to keep residents healthy and happy while providing as much normalcy as possible. At Nashoba Park Assisted Living in Ayer, the leadership team is expressing their gratitude for the associates who are going above and beyond every day.

“Our associates are the backbone of our close-knit assisted living community,” said Interim Executive Director Jason Morrissey. “While we never could have anticipated how Covid-19 would upend our lives, our team of amazing caregivers, housekeepers, community relations associates, servers, chefs, and buildings and grounds workers didn’t miss a beat. Driven by a passion for working with seniors, these individuals come to work everyday to care for our residents, protect them and continue the fight against Covid-19. Their bravery, unity and love are inspirational.”

Some of the community’s associates recently opened up about their experiences working at the Assisted Living community and what it means to them.

Shelby Thomas, a Dining Associate, grew up at Nashoba Park. “My mom was a Resident Care Associate here,” she says. “Nashoba Park has been like a second home to me. All the departments have really good teams, and we all get along.”

Besides their friendships with each other, the team at Nashoba Park have also developed deep, meaningful relationships with the community’s residents.

“The community feels like a family,” says Social Worker Gabe Gennari.

“I do what I do because I always had a strong relationship with my grandmother,” says Lead Community Relations Associate Barbara Fairweather. “Working here is like having 60 grandmothers and grandfathers.”

Sous Chef Deb Sokolowski agrees: “I’m doing what I love for the people that I love. I get the best of both worlds.”
