Lauren Basler Receives Boston Partners in Education Award
Each year, Boston Partners in Education presents awards at their Academic Mentor Party (AMP) to those who have shown a passion and dedication for public education. Lauren Basler, who currently serves as EnrichedLIFE Director of Standish Village, received the 2019 Isabel G. Besecker Award from Boston Partners for her involvement with the “Power Lunch” program at the Mildred Avenue School in Mattapan.
Herbie Pass Celebrates 101st Birthday at Standish Village
Standish Village resident Herbert (“Herbie”) Pass celebrated his 101st birthday with family, friends, and Standish staff. He was presented with a “Lifetime Achievement Award,” which is given out once a month to a resident at the Lower Mills assisted living community.
Dr. Stern Shares 'Reasons for Hope' at Quincy COA
Dr. Robert Stern, Director of the Clinical Core of the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center & Director of Clinical Research for the Boston University CTE Center, recently gave a presentation titled “Reasons for Hope” at the Quincy Council on Aging. This event was sponsored by Standish Village and Compass on the Bay.
Standish Village Holds Celebration for WWII Veteran
Standish Village Assisted Living in Boston held a celebration for one of its residents who returned from his tour with Honor Flight New England. Eugene O’Brien, a World War II veteran, was flown down to Washington, D.C. to visit historical monuments and pay respect to his fallen comrades.

WWII veteran, 91, honored at Standish Village ceremony
Mingo Nesmith, a 91-year-old veteran of World War II and a resident of the Standish Village Assisted Living Residence in Lower Mills, was honored during a special Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony at the Dorchester facility on Sun., Aug. 20.
