Standish Village Brings Brain Healthy Cooking to 1st Lower Mills Health Fair

The Lower Mills Spring Health Fair was held on May 1st at Boston Housing Authority in Dorchester Center. Standish Village of Lower Mills, an Assisted Living & Memory Support Community, conducted a Brain Healthy Cooking demonstration featuring salmon cakes with sun-dried tomato aioli. Brain Healthy Cooking is Standish Village’s award-winning nutrition program that brings residents at their community delicious, taste-tested brain healthy choices on their daily menus. It is largely based on the popular and well-researched Mediterranean diet, and features “brain healthy foods” such as dark berry fruits, leafy green vegetables, whole grains, herbs, spices, fish and seafood. Following this diet has been linked to a host of health benefits including reduced inflammation, regulated blood sugar, heart health and may even delay symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
