The Cambridge Homes Play Reading Group Earns 2013 Volunteer Excellence Award from MassALFA

[Cambridge, MA]The Cambridge Homes is proud to announce that the leaders of their volunteer-led Cambridge Homes Play Reading Group have earned the 2013 Volunteer Excellence Award granted by the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association (Mass ALFA).

Each year MassALFA presents this award to one nominee who has given their time and talents to enhance the quality of life for the residents within their community. The volunteers and award recipients of the Cambridge Homes Play Reading Group, Suzanne Hamner Nancy Hurlbut and Polly Malcolm, were nominated for their enthusiasm, creativity and dedication.

This very popular reading group has had a remarkable 15 year run. Polly started the Play Reading Group in March of 1997 and it has continued without fail each Monday afternoon. Suzanne is a passionate and talented volunteer who joined the group in 2003, and Nancy who has a strong background in theater, joined in 2008. With the guidance of three brilliant and dedicated volunteers, play reading provides an enriched experience that is often an occasion for residents with different cognitive capabilities to engage in a meaningful exchange.
