Cornerstone at Canton Resident Celebrates Incredible 103rd Birthday

Cornerstone at Canton resident Ellie Steinberg smiles big for her 103rd birthday.

CANTON, MA— March 15th was a very special day for Eleanor “Ellie” Steinberg, as she celebrated an incredible 103rd birthday with family and friends at Cornerstone at Canton, the Assisted Living community she calls home.

Ellie grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she attended Somerville High School and played basketball. After high school, Ellie attended business school for two years, where she studied to learn shorthand typing. After graduation, Ellie got her first job as a secretary at a law firm in Boston. While working here, she lived alone in an apartment in Brookline and met the man she would eventually marry on the front steps of her building. While raising their two children, Ellie’s husband was a traveling salesman and he and Ellie traveled all over the world together. One year, they even made it across the world to China!

In addition to traveling, Ellie has enjoyed reading and dancing over her 103 years. She loves moving and grooving, so much so that she taught dance lessons at her sister-in-law’s dance studio. At Cornerstone, you can always catch Ellie dancing in the front row at every concert, especially if a Frank Sinatra song is playing. She has a bubbly, contagious personality and has brought such light to residents and staff at Cornerstone.

When asked what is one piece of advice she has for others, especially those of the younger generations, Ellie said, “Just keep going and it will all work out. One day, you will realize you made it.”
