HAMPTON, NH, December 3, 2018 — After 14 months of construction, Cornerstone at Hampton Assisted Living and Memory Support Community has opened its doors and moved in its first residents on December 1st.
The senior residence, a project of Shelter Resources and Focus Construction, both of New Ipswich, and Udelsman Architects of Hollis, will become home to 64 seniors in it’s assisted living neighborhood and features a variety of comfortably furnished community rooms that pay tribute to the area’s landscape and history – including High Tide Café, Toppan’s Corner Store, Winnacunnet Fitness Center and Sea Gates Salon & Spa.
Cornerstone’s campus also houses a 42 apartment state-of-the-art Compass Memory Support NeighborhoodⓇ, designed specifically for residents with varying levels of memory loss, a symptom of afflictions such as Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s and other dementia-causing diseases. This distinctive program, which is affiliated with the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center, focuses on holistically treating the symptoms of cognitive impairment through research-based therapeutic programming aimed at connecting individuals with past interests and experiences, combating isolation, and preserving independence. The community also offers all residents the menu selections from the award-winning Brain Healthy Cooking, a ground-breaking nutrition program for seniors based on the Mediterranean Diet, which has been scientifically proven to boost brain health and improve cognitive functioning.
“This is the first community of its kind here in Hampton,” says Katrina June, Cornerstone’s Executive Director. “At Cornerstone, seniors will enjoy the independence of their own apartment home but within a supportive community that features engaging programming aimed at boosting brain health and the most talented, passionate care staff in the area.”
“We are beyond thrilled to see our community finally come to life!” adds Sarah Kearney, Director of Community Relations for Cornerstone. “Many of our residents are already settling in and getting to know their new neighbors. The residents have also been very excited to offer ideas and feedback on the programs, clubs and activities they want in their daily schedules – an added perk of being among the first to move in. Our EnrichedLIFE Program is incredibly flexible and is most successful when customized to residents’ interests and hobbies.”
June continues, “The benefit of living in a community offering a continuum of care, like Cornerstone, is that a resident doesn’t have to move out when they require a little extra care or support. We work with families to develop the best possible plan based on each resident’s individual needs and regularly evaluate its effectiveness. Our goal is to give each resident who moves into Cornerstone the best quality of life possible.”
Cornerstone at Hampton is managed by Senior Living Residences of Braintree, MA, a firm with more than 25 years experience throughout New England, managing 17 other Assisted Living and Memory Support communities throughout the area, including Methuen Village, nearby in Methuen, MA.
