Forestdale Park Brings Dementia Training to Malden Public Library

Forestdale Park Senior Living brought its Dementia Experience training to the Malden Public Library, part of a larger initiative to make the Malden area “Dementia Friendly” by conducting presentations and interactive trainings for area groups and organizations.

Forestdale Park Honors Boston Music Legend Fred Buda

Forestdale Park Senior Living in Malden honored one of their residents, Fred Buda, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. A Fall River native, Buda has had a prolific music career and left quite a mark on the Boston music scene, holding positions in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Boston Ballet Orchestra and founder of his own Fred Buda Quintet. Many of his former colleagues were in attendance.

Mayor Christenson Stops by Forestdale Park

Mayor Gary Christenson paid a visit to Forestdale Park Senior Living to give a special recitation of his State of the City Address. Afterwards, he stayed and mingled with residents, many of whom he has known for quite some time including Virginia Ruane, who personally requested the visit.

Celebrating Past and Present at Forestdale Grand Opening

Volunteers of America Massachusetts held the Grand Opening of its new senior residence, Forestdale Park, on Wednesday, June 13. State and local officials, residents and their families, local community and business leaders, healthcare professionals, and the greater Malden community were in attendance at the ribbon-cutting celebration.

Memory Support Director Brings Dementia Education to Malden Sunday School Class

Denise Thorud, Forestdale's Director of Compass Memory Support Programming gave a talk on Alzheimer’s disease and related memory impairments to the Sunday School class at Templo Dos Milagres (TDM Church) in Malden. Seminars like this one are part of Forestdale's Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative.


City and Elected Officials Tour Forestdale Park

Mayor Gary Christenson recently participated with Volunteers of America (VOA) President and CEO Thomas Bierbaum, State Representative Paul Brodeur, Ward 5 City Councillor Barbara Murphy, Malden Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Deborah Burke and other local elected and City officials for a sneak-peek at the progress of Forestdale Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility.

SLR Partners with Volunteers of America Massachusetts on New Senior Community

Throughout the country, the demand for senior care continues to rise. By 2050, the number of Americans over 65 will nearly double. By the same year, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease may nearly triple, from 5.2 million to a projected 13.8 million.

Groundbreaking on Redevelopment of former McFadden Manor Site

Mayor Gary Christenson recently participated with Volunteers of America (VOA) President and CEO Thomas Bierbaum, State Representative Paul Donato, City Council President Barbara Murphy, local elected and City officials and residents for a groundbreaking ceremony at the longtime vacant City-run nursing home known as McFadden Manor.
