Volunteering at Our Assisted Living Communities

Assisted living is a vibrant place!

Our communities have a social calendar chock-full of opportunities for volunteers to join in the fun. Some volunteers create programs to share a special talent or expertise. Some are entertainers. Some simply enjoy spending time with older folks. They sit and talk with residents in our inviting community rooms, who enjoy sharing their life stories.

Through volunteering at one of our communities volunteers form meaningful connections with seniors.

Here is how you can share your time and talents:

Our volunteers are a diverse group of individuals who have varied areas of interest. If you see a program that falls into your wheelhouse, or are interested in discovering something new, contact us!

  • Entertaining with musical and theatrical performances
  • Assisting with sightseeing, cultural, dining and shopping outings
  • Decorating common areas for special events, like Grab Your Passport!
  • Leading current event discussion groups or writing classes
  • Serving refreshments at programs or social hours
  • Organizing our community library
  • Spending quality time with one or several residents
  • Providing computer, email and texting instruction and tutoring
  • Conducting educational lectures and virtual travel experiences
  • Helping with games, crafting, flower arranging and painting classes

Interested in volunteering? Contact us at info@slr-usa.com! Tell us a bit about yourself and what opportunities interests you.

“The smiles on the residents’ faces when they see me is one of the best feelings. Just knowing that with a friendly hello, wave, a hug, or calling bingo on a Sunday afternoon would make a big difference in someone’s day, that’s what volunteering at Nashoba Park is all about.”

– Patrice, Volunteer

In all honesty, I was a little nervous about volunteering at Standish Village. My prior experience had been with children. But, by week two I was part of the family! Trivia games are always full of laughter and actually a great learning experience. Going on field trips is enjoyable and interesting. The Memoir Class I lead is my favorite. It is so personally rewarding and enriching. Through sharing our life stories, every person in the class has now become a treasured friend.
