Giving Back Through Education & Community Support
As part of our Right Values, we believe in Discovery and subscribe to the idea that whether we are working with a senior, talking to a family, presenting to the public, or training an employee – there is an opportunity to learn, to teach and to be enriched. We consider it a responsibility to educate our residents and their families, and the general public, on issues related to aging and wellness for seniors and their caregivers. And, given the extraordinary growth of the senior population as a whole, as well as the dramatically rising incidence of dementia and Alzheimer’s, we are compelled to do our part to combat the stigma and misconceptions of dementia through several public education initiatives.
Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative
At SLR, we are committed to fighting the social stigma of dementia by helping people recognize the signs of memory loss and equipping them with helpful communicative tools. Learn about our Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative, which helped make Westfield MA the first dementia friendly city on the East Coast, back in 2014.
